This weekend took place the 4th round of the Coupe de France, with the entry into contention of the National 2 teams. And for some, this entry into contention will have been express with a hasty exit from the road. Teams also created a surprise as some matches gave rise to crazy scenarios.
Who says Coupe de France says surprise and unexpected elimination. And this 4th round of the Coupe de France will not have escaped the rule once again. This 4th round was synonymous with the entry into contention of the National 2 clubs and for some, the cup only lasted 90 minutes. This is particularly the case of C Chartres of Jean-Pierre Papin, eliminated last night on penalties by Montlouis, resident of National 3. The players of the Golden Ball 1991 will not have managed to win the fateful session of penalties and therefore said goodbye to the Coupe de France. The same goes for FC Versailles and Paris 13 Atlético in the Paris region. The two teams fell against opponents who achieved a real feat. Paris 13 indeed fell in front of a resident of Régional 2, also on penalties while Versailles will have taken the door after a defeat against a resident of Régional 1. Other teams of N2 also fell like Poissy, Hyères , Granville, Féjus and Marignane-Gignac. Teams which now only have the N2 championship and who say goodbye to the most beautiful of French cups.

Endless penalty shootouts
But the Coupe de France is also and above all great stories for small teams who face top names and who are doing wonderfully. This is particularly the case for Flers FC, resident of Regional 1 and who knocked down Granville, yet used to exploits in the Coupe de France. This time, it is the resident of National 2 who will have paid the price and who takes the door unlike Flers, who can go quietly towards the 5th lap. The same goes for Houilles AC, who is playing in Regional 2 and who will therefore bite the dust in Paris 13 Atletico. Other small clubs have managed to do well and continue their journey.
And it is not only the National 2 which lived a complicated weekend because in N3, it is not less than 22 clubs which left the door at the end of this 4th round. Suffice to say a real hecatomb for the clubs of this level, after an already difficult 3rd round. Chambéry, in particular, took the door facing a Regional and will now return to the daily routine of the championship.
And what would the Coupe de France be without these incredible scenarios for certain matches? This weekend, teams again offered thrilling matches with incredible penalty shootouts. We can in particular mention the match between Espoir Football Club 88 and Muret, which ended with a session of 29 shots on goal that Muret finally won with 15 shots on goal against 14. Very long and breathless session also between Mitry Mory Football and CFF Colombes Racing, which was won 14 shots on goal to 13 by the resident of Regional 2, which thus shuns Racing, which is playing in N3. As usual, we love these epic scenarios and there is no doubt that the next round should still hold some big surprises as well as incredible scenarios.
A next round which will take place on the weekend of October 17 and 18 but before that, there will be the draw for this 5th round from this week so obviously stay connected on Foot-National, which will reveal each draw to you in its entirety.
