Surprise in ALDI outlet store in Deurne: “Remarkable interest in suitcases” | Deurne

DeurneALDI’s temporary outlet store, along the Brug van den Azijn in Deurne, is a resounding success. To give the store staff some breathing room, it was decided at one point to let customers in only sparingly.

ALDI has transformed an empty warehouse at 149 Merksemsesteenweg into a temporary outlet store. Due to the ban on the sale of non-food items during the pandemic, the supermarket retailer was no longer able to sell its weekly offers on Wednesday and Saturday. With the outlet, ALDI hopes to get rid of the overstock.

The outlet store in Deurne turned out to be a bull’s eye. Even before the opening on Saturday morning, crowds of people were lining up. “In order to ensure that our staff could continue to serve customers correctly, it was decided at a certain point to set up a filter system at the entrance and only let people in slowly,” said ALDI spokesperson Jason Sevestre on Saturday afternoon.

Travel Suitcases

According to Sevestre, customers show a remarkable amount of interest in suitcases on Saturday. “The customers are clearly looking forward to the summer holidays. Our travel suitcases are almost all sold out. But jacuzzis and bedroom items such as duvets are also very popular.”

Anyone looking for garden or kitchen utensils will probably find what they are looking for in the outlet store. “There is still a wide range of these items available. Just like camping equipment”, says Sevestre.

The outlet store in Deurne is open from Monday to Saturday between 8.30 am and 7 pm and will close on Saturday 30 July at the earliest, or while supplies last.
