Suriname now far below COVID-19 danger zone – Suriname Herald

Suriname, with an average of six infections per day, the previous week, is now well below the set danger zone of 25 infections per day. The country can now go from code red back to code orange. This is what Health Minister Amar Ramadhin said in a televised address to the nation tonight. The minister spoke on behalf of President Chan Santokhi.

However, he emphasized that we as a person are increasingly comfortable. “Don’t let that ease spill over into nonchalance. We are not there yet, ”said the minister.

The measures for the period 9 to 22 November are:

Measure 1
The curfew remains set from 10:00 pm in the evening until 5:00 am.

Outside curfews, the following measures apply:

Measure 2
No gathering of groups larger than thirty people. It is prohibited to hold parties, including house parties. There will still be no dispensation for this.

Measure 3
Funeral, funeral and religious gatherings are only permitted subject to the following conditions:
– The number of persons allowed present is determined by the available capacity of the space concerned.
– The standard is set at no more than 1 person per 5 square meters at the same time.

Measure 4
Outdoor recreational sports activities may normally take place. This without referees and / or spectators. It remains unimpaired that sports with intensive contact are not yet allowed.

Measure 5
Passenger transport by means of public transport by road or water is only permitted with due observance of the public transport protocol.

Measure 6
Brothels, bars, night clubs, dance halls, discotheques and the like will remain closed. Sanctions will follow if these places are open despite the ban.

Measure 7
Restaurants and other commercial eateries may only open for take-out or delivery. Unless they have open-air terraces. Furthermore, markets, recreation resorts, casinos,
gambling and entertainment facilities, gaming offices, gyms, yoga, dance schools, aerobics, zumba and sports or fitness centers.

Contact professions such as physiotherapists, hairdressing salons, hairdressers and barbershops are also allowed to perform their duties. All this in accordance with the applicable protocols, with due observance of the COVID-19 measures.

Measure 8
The border by air is partially opened to passenger traffic, provided that the conditions and protocols specific to the country from which the person comes directly are met. The detailed information is provided to the relevant actors in the aviation sector.

“It is clear that the government wants to give you the opportunity to make trips abroad in a safe and responsible manner. This of course in accordance with the protocols. That is why I ask you to be informed as comprehensively as possible if you have plans to travel.

Measure 9
Flights to the interior are only undertaken in compliance with the applicable aviation protocols.

Measure 10
People in quarantine or isolation, but also people who are obliged to stay at home, must strictly adhere to the measures. They are prohibited from moving or being outside their home or accommodation facilities.
