surf City, N.C. – A popular figure in Surf City, Trevor Dostie, owner of the maine Lobstah Shack, is currently recovering in the hospital following a serious e-bike accident that occurred Wednesday. The community has rallied around him, offering support and prayers for his swift recovery.

The Maine Lobstah Shack has become a local favorite since its opening in 2022. Its popularity is attributed not only to its cuisine but also to its welcoming atmosphere and dedicated staff. According to Hunt Reifschneider, the staff is like a family, so whatever you need, though you need it, they’ll do it.

Trevor Dostie: The Heart of the Shack

Trevor Dostie, an owner who is almost always present, is a key reason for the shack’s success. Friends describe him as a positive and influential member of the community. Trevonn Caesar noted, He’s a ball of sunshine. Never really seen him on a bad day and if he is having a bad day, you’d be hard-pressed to find out about it. If you meet anyone around here, they’ve got nothing but good stories to tell about him.

The Accident and Immediate Aftermath

Dostie’s absence has been felt since the accident. Reifschneider recounted the events: He was headed home,going over the bridge and he had a horrible bike accident. He was found at 2 in the morning, and they rushed him to the hospital. He just had bruises and bleeding out of the back of his head and not conscious, just in really rough shape. The news was devastating to his friends.

He was there for a while before somebody ultimately found him. It breaks my heart, such an amazing guy that two minutes of being in pain or suffering is too much for him.

Upon hearing the news,the community sprang into action. A prayer circle was held outside the Maine Lobstah Shack on Thursday, demonstrating the collective support for Dostie. Whenever any of us is in trouble, we all show out, Caesar said. You could definitely feel the love in the air, it was like a collective spirit wrapping a hug around him.

Positive Signs of Recovery

Reifschneider visited Dostie in the hospital on Friday and reported encouraging progress. He actually opened my eyes and said my name, reifschneider said. We had a brief conversation, maybe 60 seconds. He gave me the old smile that you know his heart is still in there and his personality is still in there. While a full recovery is expected to be a long journey, this was a welcome sign.

Friends remain optimistic about Dostie’s recovery and his return to the Maine Lobstah Shack. reifschneider expressed the community’s sentiment: If the world was filled with Trevors we wouldn’t have an issue in the world. It would be an amazing world to live in.
