Supreme Court: Democrats are not yet allowed to part confidential Mueller report

The U.S. Supreme Court is currently denying Democratic parliamentarians access to confidential testimonials in the Russian investigation by Special Prosecutor Robert Mueller. He investigated whether President Trump’s campaign team conspired with the Russians to influence the presidential election. Before that he found no proof.

Mueller concluded that Trump has attempted to influence the Russia investigation in a number of ways, but did not explicitly state its criminality. “If we were convinced that the President had clearly committed no crime, we would have said that,” was all he said about it.

Democrats are now trying to enforce through court that black-lacquered passages from the report and confidential testimonials are made public, to determine whether Trump has broken the law.

A lower court ordered the documents to be released, but the Supreme Court, which is dealing with them, has postponed the case until early next month. Then it is decided whether the case will be handled.

Any substantive treatment will only take place in the fall. Potentially unwelcome information for Trump is likely to become public only after the November presidential election.
