Can we say that Latvian jazz has its own characteristic sound? What are its points of support for its successful development? Before the international music festival “Riga Rhythms”, which will take place from June 29 to July 2, Cultural rondo conversation with the organizer of the festival stage “Jersika Stage” Mareku Ameriku and the musicians of the band “Lupa” Give Jurku and Ati Anderson.

We take a look at the program of the festival “Rīgas Ritmi”, which is supposed to be very short and concise, but there is a whole story behind each sentence.

The 22nd International Festival of Improvisation, Jazz and Global Music “Riga Rhythms” will take place from June 29 to July 2.

A separate section of the festival “Rīgas Ritmi” – “Jersika Stage” – is curated by Mareks Ameriks, the head of the vinyl record label “Jersika Records”. The concerts will take place at the Noass Art Center.

The main concerts of the festival will take place in the Riga Dome Garden. “Modern Standards Supergroup” and “Very Cool People” will perform with Paul Saiy on June 30, and Clark Beckham and “Ayom” on July 1. Start of double concerts at 8 pm

The stars of the festival will also present public master classes in the 1st studio of Latvian Radio. Singer Clark Beckham will meet jazz music students and other interested people on June 30, and Ayom band leader Jabu Morales on July 1.
