Elton John is robust and white, even if things don’t go that way: The Show must go on. In Auckland, however, the pianist and singer had to cancel a concert after a few songs: “I lost my voice completely, I’m so sorry,” said the 72-year-old on the stage in tears, according to local media. Previously, paramedics had to come on stage several times to take care of the newly-won Oscar winner.

Elton John is currently on a farewell tour

At the very beginning, Elton John had told the audience that he was diagnosed with pneumonia in the early stages. But he still wanted to play the concert and pull through for the sake of his fans.

But he did not last long: Again and again the singer had to pause between the first songs, even slumped briefly. After the funeral ballad “Candle in the Wind” nothing worked and helpers had to get Elton John off the stage.

The singer later spoke up again on Instagram and explained again why he had to stop the show. “I’m disappointed, really sad and I’m sorry,” he wrote, thanking for the support from the fans on site, who did not resent the involuntary termination of the show.
