Super Nintendo World amusement park delays its opening until next year

The opening of the Super Nintendo World amusement park, fruit of the collaboration between Universal Studios Japan and Nintendo, is officially delayed until to 2021 due to the covid-19 pandemic.

The original plan was to open the facility in time for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, which were also canceled due to illness.

With the disease reaching its highest levels in the total number of people infected in the world with a rapid growth of cases and the appearance of outbreaks In many of the countries that had managed to slow down their progress with confinement measures, it seems that the company has considered that 2020 will still be too soon to inaugurate this part of its huge amusement park in Japan.

At the moment there is no new date announced for its inauguration. So, we don’t know if they will wait until the Olympics are approaching (now scheduled for July 23, 2021) or whether they will choose their own calendar when it is considered that the security measures and the level of contagion of the disease have been better controlled.

During the last months we have seen different photographs areas of the facilities showing that work continues good rhythm preparing the decoration and attractions.

Presumably, Universal Studios Japan now slows down to adjust to new plans stemming from the delay in the opening date.
