The association of European clubs has issued an official statement regarding rumors about the new limited number competition
L’ECA, the association of European football clubs, has issued a statement regarding rumors of the upcoming birth of a Superlega wanted and created by 12 teams including Juventus, Inter and Milan, in which he expressed his opposition to the idea and his involvement with Uefa for the restructuring, starting from 2024, of European competitions. “The ECA will stand firmly against what the media refer to as a closed number Superlega” it is read.

The ECA – of which Andrea Agnelli is president – held an emergency meeting this evening after rumors of an official announcement on the birth of the Superlega, the Juventus president absent. None of the 12 clubs that would take part in this new tournament were present not responding to the invitation to participate. Bayern Munich and PSG were present, but the meeting was chaired by Edwin van der Sar, vice president.
