Video popped up: Trump, of all people, is fooling around in front of the Super Bowl at the US anthem
When the American anthem sounds, all residents of the United States stand up in awe, put their hands on their hearts and sing along. At least that’s what the general public wants.
When Colin Kaepernick of the San Francisco 49ers knelt before a game in October 2017, a storm of indignation broke out. The gesture was interpreted as disrespectful – the national anthem and flag are hugely important in the United States.

With their knees, Kaepernick and other players wanted to draw attention to racism in football and police violence against blacks. At the time, US President Donald Trump also interfered in the debate and demanded the dismissal of all players.
Trump plays the conductor
Kaepernick, whose career has been virtually on hold since then, had to be insulted by Trump publicly as the “son of a bitch”. His protest, however, subsided after several months.
Now the US President has also mistaken himself for the national anthem, as a video on Twitter shows. The short clip was made at a super bowl party at his golf club in Miami. His wife Melania and their son Barron were also there. While the two put their hands on their hearts, Trump gestures wildly. He raises his arms over his head and apparently imitates a conductor.

At the time, he said about Kaepernick and other players: “Stand proudly for your national anthem or be released without payment”.
Trump’s “dance” causes mixed reactions
Actress Alyssa Milano criticized Trump’s appearance: “It doesn’t look like pride,” she wrote in her tweet. In her eyes, Trump appears to be a hypocrite. For her criticism, however, she received headwinds from Trump supporters, who note that the president at least stands.
Another Twitter user says Trump waved to someone. And he only raised his hands over his head because he was so enthusiastic about the anthem.
Democrat Eric Swalwell criticizes that US troops deserve a commander-in-chief who respects them. Instead, they would be led by an egocentric “child”.
