Sundays in January at pure theater at the Usina Cultural

January 17, 2021 – 02:06
He will go on stage “We are nothing (and other familiar ways to ruin a funeral)”, by the group La Morisqueta.

For three consecutive Sundays starting today, at 8 pm, at the Usina Cultural (Spain and Juramento) the comedy “We are nothing (and other familiar ways to ruin a wake)” will be presented by the La Morisqueta Theater School.

There are 21 actors on stage directed by Cristina Idiarte. This comedy was written by La Quipi and Ivo Rozic and it tells the story of a traditional Salta family that at the most inopportune moment shows that behind the facade of very normal people a quite dysfunctional clan hides.

Tickets can be purchased at Ameghino 507 (Bar 2222), from 8am to 11pm. In dialogue with El Tribuno, Graciela Quipildor commented that the inspiration for the play came from an event that few would associate with humor. “Funerals are occasions when nothing should happen and many times everything happens, so we thought it was an ideal subject for a sitcom. They are still a social event. There are encounters, people who do not want to see each other, reproaches for being done, someone who has the validation to look more hurt, a protagonist of the wake who is not necessarily the deceased and fights that cannot be hidden with anything. In all funerals you see that: you just have to know how to observe, ”said Graciela. Thus, he intuitively appropriated the sensations that during the funeral the masks fall and that the end of a life brings out the claims and the true intentions of everything, even what the dead man has kept silent. “Everything latent and without saying comes to light when there is no reason to sustain it anymore,” Graciela summarized.

He added that Ivo Rozic was his partner in La Morisqueta’s classes and that Cristina Idiarte saw potential in that duo. “We barely knew each other, but I immediately realized that Ivo has a very sharp sense of humor and great originality. I always write alone, but it was fun writing with him. He is good with structures, whys and order. I’m good with shots, surprise and absurdity ”, he explained. Regarding the development of 21 characters in a short time on stage and looking for the brilliance and permanence in the public of each one, he pointed out: “It was necessary to throw all the meat on the grill and that each character add to the story and have a chance to grow by himself, so causing entanglements is an inexpensive way to get everyone to react. Many characters grew more than what we proposed in the script and that gives us a lot of joy ”.

He added that they could not ignore representations “of the drunkard, the machirulo, the manipulator, the religious, the blackmailer, those who want to take advantage of everything … Anyway. There are many more to see ”.
