Summary of RE Showcase – trailer, demo, Mercenaries and RE4 in VR

The April Resident Evil Showcase is over and Capcom has prepared a huge load of information for us.

Probably everyone was waiting for the second demo, which will be released on all platforms. But it’s a little more complicated than we’d like. We will be able to spend a total of 60 minutes in the demo and we can explore the village and the castle, but it will only be available for a limited time. Appears on all platforms May 2 at 2:00 p.m. and will be accessible until May 3 2:00 AM.

However, consoles from Sony will again get some time exclusivity. For PlayStation 4 and 5, the demo will be divided into two parts. A 30-minute demo from the village is waiting for us Sunday April 18 at 7:00 p.m., and you will only be able to play it until the next day 3:00 in the morning. The next 30-minute demo will then cover the castle and will be available a week later, ie from 25 April 19:00 to 26 April 3:00. Pre-load for Sony consoles has already started.

In addition to the demo, we also saw a new trailer, which really shows a lot of new locations. It will probably be best if you see it for yourself. We learn from him new information about the story and also about the role of Chris Redfield in this game, which will definitely not be positive.

But then came the big surprise. Capcom has announced that it will return to Resident Evil Village the legendary mode of The Mercenaries. Arcade mode, which has become very popular with players. In addition to previous versions of this mode, the RE8 will add capabilities as well as the ability to buy items from a retailer. The mode will be available completely free of charge to all owners of the basic game.

We could also see a short teaser, through which we learned that Resident Evil was heading to the game Dead by Daylight. More information is to be found on May 25 on a special broadcast to be dedicated to the 5th anniversary of this game. The DLC itself has to come out sometime in June.

This was followed by a new trailer for the CGI series Resident Evil Infinite Darkness, which is being created for Netflix. We learned that several well-known characters will appear in it, in addition to Leon and Claire, for example, the President of the United States himself, Father Ashley from RE4. The issue is then set at July of this year.

And speaking of Resident Evil 4, here is the last surprise Capcom has prepared for us. Indeed, earlier leaks have been confirmed and this part is aimed at the CoR, of course exclusively for the Oculus Quest 2 headset. We will learn more about the Oculus Gaming Showcase, which will take place on April 21.

After the RE showcase itself, there was also information about what framerate and resolution the various platforms would offer. We learned that on the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X, the game will run in 4K at 60 fps or the same resolution with ray tracing, but you will have to make do with 45 fps. The Xbox Series S is capable of either 1440p resolution at 45 fps or with ray tracing at 30 fps. Xbox One X and PlayStation 4 Pro offer either 4K at 30 fps or Full HD at 60 fps. Owners of the completely original consoles of the last generation will have to accept 900p and 30 fps resolutions. At the Stadium, you can then look forward to Full HD and 60 fps or upscaled 4K again at 60 frames per second.

Resident Evil Village is released on May 7. Aims for PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One and Xbox Series.

You can pre-order the game in the store Xzone.
