The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has officially announced the allocation of an additional stake to support the continent’s national federations, offering an estimated value of $ 16.2 million, in order to face updates of the emerging epidemic of Coruna (Covid-19).
The Executive Committee of the Confederation of African Football (CAF) held a video meeting on Tuesday 30 June 2020 to discuss the future of the championships and the events related to the spread of Corona.
And decided, “enough, to allocate to each union in Africa an amount of 300 thousand dollars to meet the challenges resulting from the epidemic (Covid 19).
CAF President Ahmed Ahmed thanked and appreciated the Government of the Arab Republic of Egypt, led by His Excellency President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, for signing on June 24, 2020 the headquarters agreement.
“Kaf” indicated that under the new agreement, “Kaf” and its employees benefit from the advantages and immunity granted to diplomatic missions operating on the territory of the Arab Republic of Egypt under the Vienna Convention 1961.
The meeting witnessed the approval of Ali Al-Issawi as a commercial manager. El-Essawy, a Moroccan national, was working as a business development manager for Barcelona FC before joining the Confederation of African Football.
Due to the exceptional circumstances and the challenges that impose themselves, the 2020 edition of the African Women Cup of Nations was canceled, and at the same time, the CAF Champions League for Women will be launched in 2021. The tournament system and the rest of the details will be announced in due course.
