Sudirman Cup 2021: Indonesia eliminated by Malaysia

Vantaa

Malaysia removed Indonesia from Sudirman Cup 2021 with a score of 2-3. That assurance was obtained after Praveen Jordan / Melati Daeva Oktavianti lost to Hoo Pang Ron/Cheah Yee See.

In the round match at Energi Areena, which was completed on Saturday (2/10/2021) past midnight WIB, Praveen/Melati fell to Hoo/Cheah with a score of 19-21, 21-9, 16-21. This result made Indonesia stop in the quarterfinals with a score of 2-3.

Praveen/Melati trailed from Hoo/Cheah in the early game, but slowly managed to balance the score to 6-6. The Indonesian mixed doubles then turned ahead with a score of 8-6.

Hoo/Cheah didn’t stay still. The fast game from the Malaysian representative made it difficult for Praveen / Melati and trailed behind 8/11 until the first game interval.

Hoo/Cheah became more unstoppable after the interval. Hoo/Cheah managed to win the first game with a score of 21-19.

Praveen/Melati performed well at the start of the second game. This was inseparable from Hoo Pang Ron’s failure to return the ball four times in a row to make Praveen/Melati lead 6-1.

The Hoo/Cheah pair make a lot of mistakes. Praveen/Melati also managed to lead 11-2 in the second game interval.

Praveen/Jasmine is still unstoppable. The All England 2020 champion widened the advantage to 16-3 and succeeded in forcing the match to continue into the rubber game after winning the second game with a score of 21-9.

Hoo/Cheah opens up the decider pretty well. Praveen/Melati failed to anticipate the fast strike of the Malaysian pair and led 2-0.

Praveen/Melati briefly narrowed the score to 2-3, but fell behind again when Praveen failed to return Hoo’s smash. Hoo/Cheah now lead 5-3.

Hoo made a mistake in releasing the smash because the ball got stuck in the net. Hoo then again failed to return Praveen’s ball to make Indonesia reduce the score to 5-7, which was already 3-7 behind.

Again and again Hoo’s ball got stuck in the net and made the Indonesian pair reduce the score to 7-8. Not long ago, Melati made a mistake after the ball came out and made the Malaysian representative lead 9-7.

The Indonesian representative managed to equalize the score to 10-10 after Praveen’s two smashes failed to be blocked and one return from the Malaysian representative came out, but Melati gave Hoo/Cheah an 11-10 lead after failing to anticipate the smash.

Hoo/Cheah managed to widen the gap to 17-12 after the interval. Praveen/Melati were troubled by the fast play of the Malaysian pair’s position shift.

Hoo/Cheah had lost control and Praveen/Melati were able to cut the gap to 16-20. Hoo/Cheah were finally able to win the battle 21-16 after Melati’s ball hit the field.

Indonesia was eliminated with a score of 2-3. Two points were obtained from the victory of Gregoria Mariska and Greysia Polii / Apriyani Rahayu.
