Sudden death of a child in hospital: Ontario coroner’s investigation

The Coroner’s Office specifies that they always investigate a sudden and unexpected death, but not automatically when the deceased suffers from an illness.

Ontario’s health minister said she was saddened by the death of a young patient.

However, when asked about this case on Thursday, she declined to give details. I can’t imagine how difficult it must be for the treating staff and family of this patient.the minister said.

Ms Jones wants the investigation to run its course, but added that if a child is in need of urgent care, they shouldn’t hesitate to go to an emergency room.

The hospital also declined to comment out of respect for patient privacy. In a written statement, however, he clarified that speculating without knowing the facts could be harmful, especially to families and staff.
