NEW YORK – A substitute teacher assigned to a New York City school was arrested Thursday afternoon after allegedly assaulting a student at the Queens middle school where he worked, authorities said.
New York City Police have announced the arrest of Vernon Jerom, a 77-year-old educator accused of forcing his hands on a student’s neck.
The boy, whose age and education level are unknown, suffered no visible injuries and did not complain of any pain, police said.
A spokesperson for the New York City Department of Education did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
