The Russian Su-30 fighter of the Black Sea Fleet naval aviation escorted US reconnaissance aircraft over the neutral waters of the Black Sea, reports RIA Novosti with reference to the Ministry of Defense.
The R-8A Poseidon patrol aircraft, the RC-135 strategic reconnaissance aircraft, and the KS-135 refueling aircraft were detected by the air defense system of the Southern Military District. Radar controls continuously monitored American aircraft at a considerable distance from the Russian border.
The Su-30 crew approached reconnaissance aircraft at a safe distance, identified them and escorted them, strictly observing international rules for the use of airspace. It is noted that American aircraft immediately changed the direction of flight from the state border of Russia.
After completing the task, the Su-30 safely returned to the airfield.
