The Ministry of Culture informed the schools on November 27th that they would receive FF2 masks by December 18, 2020 and surgical masks by January 22, 2021.
Monika Stein, state chairwoman of the Education and Science Union (GEW), said on November 27th. in Freiburg:
“Thank you Ministry of Culture! Our order for protective masks took over four months, but better late than never. Now that the state government has dealt with the issues of masks and longer Christmas holidays, it could take care of how finally more staff come to the schools and, above all, how the school administrators are relieved. If she takes months to make a decision, a lot of lessons will continue to be canceled in the second half of the school year: Because of Corona and a lack of teachers. “
Education Minister Susanne Eisenmann promised the GEW in July 2020 that FFP2 masks will be made available for teachers who wish them. After the summer vacation there was no more talk of it.
