“Videobeweis”, the new “crime scene” from Stuttgart, negotiates a sensitive topic: How should outsiders judge whether sex was consensual or forced?

Stuttgart – That’s how it was before Corona came into the world: At the Christmas party, alcohol flowed freely and uninhibited colleagues sometimes ended up in bed with each other. When the employees of an insurance company meet at the end of the year, it is not only boozy, but also awakens the attractive Kim (Ursina Lardi) desires. Especially her boss Oliver Jansen (Oliver Wnuk) would like to continue celebrating with her and lures her into the office.

The victim fell from the parapet

What happens there, opinions differ in “Videobeweis”, the new “crime scene” from Stuttgart. One thing is certain: the next morning, an employee lies dead on the floor in the foyer who did not voluntarily fall over the railing on the upper floor. Kim and her boss were the only ones who were still in the house after the Christmas party – and are therefore highly suspect.

The dialogues slowly pick up

The story of this new “crime scene” seems unspectacular and takes a lot of effort to get going at first. Gradually, however, the dialogues pick up speed as the suspects try to outsmart each other. Did the boss rap his employee? Or did she use it to get the advertised position? The fronts are clear: “I’ll hang on, I swear to you” – “No, I’ll hang on”.

The inspector is also fascinated by the suspect

The suspect Kim seems to be a nymphomaniac who devours men and women and coolly says about her job: “I model risks”. Inspector Lannert (Richy Müller) also lets himself be charmed by her charm, so that he can no longer really trust his judgment – which is how this “crime scene” ended up on his very interesting topic: the dubious truth of images. “Is the truth in what you see or in what you don’t see?” Asks Lannert – because even video recordings can be interpreted differently. So the scriptwriters Katharina Adler and Rudi Gaul dare to hit the hot iron and into the gray area that opens up during some sexual encounters, which the participants may perceive very differently.
