Study Calls COVID-19 Patients at Risk of Death After 18 Months of Corona Virus Infection

INDOZONE.ID – A study says that people who suffer COVID-19 at risk of dying after 18 months of infection with the coronavirus.

Research conducted by Chinese scientists has found people who contract the coronavirus are at increased risk of deadly heart problems, including heart failure, stroke, atrial fibrillation and myocardial infarction.

According to scientists, people infected with COVID-19 are four times more likely to develop heart disease in the first three weeks of infection.

Up to 18 months after contracting COVID-19, risk of death 40 percent higher than those who are not infected with COVID-19.

Reported The SunPrevious studies have found that the coronavirus increases the risk of developing venous thromboembolism (VTE), which is a condition when blood clots form in the blood vessels.

Another study shows that people who have had COVID-19 are also at risk of developing myocarditis.

“Patients with COVID-19 should be monitored for at least one year after recovery from acute illness to diagnose cardiovascular complications from infection, which are part of long COVID-19,” said first researcher Prof Ian CK Wong from Hong.

According to research published in Cardiovascular Researchthose with COVID-19 are also 81 times more likely to die in the first month after contracting COVID-19, compared to those who do not have COVID-19.

Prof Ian called for further studies to investigate effectiveness vaccine in reducing the risk of cardiovascular disease and death after COVID-19 infection.
