President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan answered the questions of the young people who will enter YKS at the meeting where he attended video conferencing.
To the comments section of the live broadcast “OY NO MOY YOU”, “See you in the ballot box” YouTube broadcasts were closed to comments.
Why was YKS not delayed?
Erdogan responded to the question of “why did YKS not be postponed” by the youth:
Dear young people, first of all, we need to take the following step as it is known. The dates of such exams are announced months ago. The history of YKS was also announced long ago. Unfortunately, the coronavirus epidemic affected exam schedules just like everything else in our country. Due to uncertainties, this style was inevitable because of exam dates.
• We prevented students from experiencing unnecessary stress. It is entirely speculation that some claim that this date was determined to revive the tourism industry. Normalization was put into effect on May 11, after the outbreak was taken under control.
• Processed a process related to the exam dates. The opinion that it would be better to make the exam as soon as possible to its original date has emerged. Exam date has been determined as 27-28 as the closest date to the first announced date. All necessary measures have been taken. I want young people to focus exclusively on the questions and goals ahead.
“We prevented exam stress by not delaying YKS”
• Upon this, the exam date was determined as 27-28 June, which is the closest time to the first announced date. In this way, it has been prevented that our students, who have been preparing for the first date for years, experience unnecessary test stress for about 1 month.
• We provided many advantages to our young people such as reducing the subjects to be responsible for the exam and extending the exam period. By reducing the dam scores, we ensured that more young people could enter.
University youth unemployed
Erdogan made the following explanations for university youth unemployed:
• Unemployment is a serious problem for everyone. With the increase in the rate of urbanization in our country, the unemployment hidden in the agricultural sector has started to manifest itself. Our number of university students has reached 8 million. As the level of education rises, the age at which young people are brought into life progresses. Today, when we say undergraduate and graduate, this bar has reached the age of 30.
• We need to change the skewed table. Our aim is to create business areas that meet the goals of our youth. Turkey in front of a very large potential. We are determined to provide a workplace where we can work with peace of mind for every young person who develops themselves, who stands out with his knowledge and ability, by taking advantage of the opportunity.
“Not all university graduates can be employed in the public”
• However, every university graduate should not be mistaken for public employment. The duty of the public is to open a business, to support everyone who wants to win, to provide support.
• The main employment will be in the private sector, production, trade and agriculture. I want our young people to trust their talents and to search for their future in the private sector. There is no such thing as job preparation for every university graduate anywhere in the world. ”
“We will carry social media to moral ground”
Erdogan, “Do you like social media?” gave the following answer to the question:
• I am a politician. As a politician, it is not possible to close my eyes to the facts. Today, we know that digital platforms and social media are at a negligible level. If we hated social media, I wouldn’t use it so widely. I would like to remind that I was the most watched person on Twitter, which was 16.2 million followers in our country.
• The main issue here is to turn social media and internet platforms into all kinds of lies, slander and heresy as a freely circulating medium. Are we going to ignore the fact that internet channels that do not remove the wrong content and do not allow correction ignore the court decisions? Every citizen and our institution should have the right to protect their reputation in social media just like in real life.
• It is my duty to move social media to a moral ground; We are preparing to establish a strong legal infrastructure in this regard. We will introduce our nation not only with its content but also with legal regulations we will make to a reliable internet channel.
