Students from the hotel section of Montluçon (Allier) cook to support the town’s restaurateurs

The professional bac students of the Institution Sainte-Louise de Marillac are generous with the approach of the end of year celebrations. While the management-administration students organized a solidarity day for the benefit of the Restos du cœur bébé, their comrades from the hotel section decided to show their support to the restaurateurs of Montluçon.

Christmas menus cooked by the students

They cooked a Christmas menu that the restaurateurs were able to collect in click and collect at the application restaurant Saint-Vincent, Friday, December 18.

About thirty meals were thus prepared. The chefs who were unable to come yesterday morning received a voucher to come and eat at Saint-Vincent as soon as possible.

It was a desire of all the students, both in the kitchen and in the service, to show solidarity with the restaurateurs who are suffering a lot at the moment. These are the people who support us by taking young people on internship and participating in their training.

In Montluçon, restaurateurs, cafetiers, managers of nightclubs and sports halls demonstrate: “There, we are going there”

Educational changes due to confinement

With the confinements and the closure of restaurants, the establishment has adapted its pedagogy. Students in the hotel and catering section have discovered another facet of their profession, collective catering. They thus cooked and served in the canteen of the Sainte-Philomène school and in the college self-service, while respecting the sanitary protocol.

How is the recovery going at the Saint-Vincent application restaurant, in Montluçon?

“In this complicated time, some students have proven to be exceptional with the little ones. We would not have had this idea without the Covid-19 epidemic, recognizes Pascale Varenne. The pupils discover all the aspects of cooking: gastronomic, traditional, collective, regional cooking… But it also shows them the difficulties that a profession can encounter. Life is not a long quiet river. During a career, you are not immune to a complex situation, ”emphasizes the director.
