Streng was re-elected for the sixth term as President of the Luge Sports Federation

On Wednesday, October 7, the general meeting of the members of the Latvian Luge Sports Federation (LKSF) took place at the Elektrum Olympic Sports Center and the board elections were held, in which Atis Strenga was re-elected President for the sixth term, LKSF reports.

In his solemn address, Atis Strenga expressed hope that the luge sport community would move forward with even more successful thoughts. The President of LKSF also revealed that in two years, under the leadership of Daina Caune, materials and memories about the sport of sledges will be collected in order to publish a book.

Klāvs Vasks, a former sleigh rider who started in double crews and won the third place in the 1993 Junior Championship (double crew: Klāvs Vasks / Sandris Līvzemnieks), has been elected Vice-President of LKSF. Dace Gods-Romanovska will continue as Secretary-General.

There have also been small changes in the LKSF board – it is no longer there Juris Šics, elected in his place Andris Šics. Aivars Kalniņš and Pēteris Cīmanis will also not continue to work in the Board.

For the first time, the current coach and manager of the Latvian national team Kristaps Mauriņš and the head coach of the Latvian junior and youth team Zintis Šaicāns have been elected to the board.

Normunds Grava, who will represent the competition judges, will continue to work in the Board, as well as Dace Ābeltiņa, Ingrīda Amantova and Dace Gods-Romanovska.

Eight out of ten LKSF members (sports clubs and associations) took part in the elections. The President, Vice-President and Secretary-General shall be elected unanimously. The officials are elected for four years.
