Upper Austria/LINZ. From the beginning of June, the first rural strawberry producers will open their fields, followed by the start of the season in all regions of Upper Austria. Linzers can stock up on the sweet fruits at the strawberry land Lechner fields, a little patience is still required.
The cool spring and the sufficient rainfall allowed the strawberries to thrive very well, which has a positive effect on the fruit size and quality, according to the Upper Austrian Chamber of Agriculture. “The moderate but increasing temperatures give us hope for a good harvest season that will last for several weeks,” says the spokesman for the strawberry pickers, Andreas Hoffelner.
