‘Stranger Things‘ Final Episode to receive Limited Theatrical Release
Select theaters across the U.S. and Canada will screen the final episode of Stranger Things, offering fans a unique possibility to experience the series conclusion on the big screen. Participating locations will be announced in the coming weeks.
The theatrical release provides a special send-off for the cultural phenomenon that has captivated audiences as it’s 2016 debut. Creators Matt and Ross Duffer expressed their excitement, stating, “We’re beyond excited that fans will have the chance to experience the final episode of Stranger Things in theaters – it’s something we’ve dreamed about for years.” They added,”Getting to see it on the big screen,with incredible sound,picture,and a room full of fans,feels like the perfect – dare we say bitchin’ – way to celebrate the end of this adventure.”
Production on Stranger Things 5 wrapped in December, with a reported 650 hours of footage filmed. The final season will roll out in three volumes, beginning November 26th with the first four episodes. Three more episodes will premiere on December 25th, culminating in the finale on December 31st. Episode run times for the first four installments range from 54 minutes to one hour and 23 minutes.
For context, the Season Four finale in 2022 was two hours and 22 minutes long, while previous season finales have ranged from one hour and 18 minutes (Season three) to 55 minutes (Season One).
A synopsis for Stranger Things 5 states, “The final battle is looming – and with it, a darkness more powerful and more deadly than anything they’ve faced before.” It continues, “To end this nightmare, they’ll need everyone – the full party – standing together, one last time.”
