Strange Explosion Turns Turkey’s Sky Green, People Think UFOs

ANKARA – Residents of the City of Izmir, Turkey caught a strange moment when a object enters Earth’s atmosphere and caused a “big explosion” in the sky. Residents panicked because they thought it was a UFO because the explosion turned the sky green.

Reported Express.co.uk, Tuesday (3/8/2021), the incident occurred on Saturday, July 31, 2021. Residents were frightened because they thought it was a UFO arrival.

One resident wrote on Twitter: “UFO sighted in the sky #PrayforTurkey.”

Another added: “A strange and bright object believed to be rocket debris crashed in Turkey. Satellite?”

Fortunately, Dr Hasan Ali Dal’s astrophysics explanation quickly calmed the residents down. The professor informed that the “fireball” phenomenon occurred when a meteor begins to burn as it enters Earth’s atmosphere.

Space rocks will often disintegrate before reaching the ground but if they hit Earth, they are classed as meteorites. Dr Dal explains that sometimes the disintegration process can sound like an explosion.

“This is a phenomenon known as shooting stars,” he said. While the green light that emanated after the explosion was caused by the amount of nickel in the meteorite rock.

About 90 percent of meteors contain no metal, but some are made entirely or partly of iron and nickel.
