Stopover in Abu Dhabi, President Jokowi Condolences on the Death of Sheikh Khalifa

JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com – President Joko Widodo and Mrs. Iriana and their entourage arrived at Abu Dhabi International Airport, United Arab Emirates (UEA) on Sunday (15/5/2022) around 15.50 local time.

Jokowi and the group arrived in Abu Dhabi for approximately 14 hours from Washington DC.

President Jokowi stopped by to express his condolences over the death of His Excellency the President of the UAE Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan on Friday, (13/5/2022).

After getting off the plane, President Jokowi then headed to the location where the condolences were delivered on the Presidential Flight which was still in the airport area.

At the venue, President Jokowi met His Excellency Mohamed bin Zayed, who has been appointed as president and sends his condolences.

In his statement, President Jokowi conveyed condolences from the government and the people of Indonesia and wished the deceased the best place in the sight of Allah SWT.

“Innalillahi wa innalillahi rajiun. On behalf of the government, on behalf of the people of Indonesia, I express my deep condolences for the death of His Highness Sheikh Khalifa and may he be given the best place in the sight of Allah SWT,” said the President after the takziah as quoted from the Secretariat’s written statement. President.

President Jokowi said Sheikh Khalifa is a great leader not only for the UAE, but also for the region and the world.

He said Sheikh Khalifa was a great leader not only for the UAE but also for the Middle East and the world.

“He is a great leader and we are,” said President Jokowi.

After the pilgrimage, President Jokowi then boarded the plane and continued his flight to the country at around 18:20 local time and is expected to arrive at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport in Tangerang on Monday morning, May 16, 2022.

Also accompanying the President during the pilgrimage were Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan, Minister of State Secretary Pratikno, Minister of Foreign Affairs Retno Marsudi, Minister of Trade Muhammad Lutfi, Minister of Investment/Head of BKPM Bahlil Lahadalia, and Indonesian Ambassador to PEA Husin Bagis.
