Stones threaten to sue Trump for music abuse

The Rolling Stones threaten to file a lawsuit against Donald Trump if he continues to use their music during campaign meetings. The rock group wants the American president to no longer end his rallies with ‘You Can’t Always Get What You Want’. Rolling Stone reports this.

The fact that Trump uses their music has been a thorn in the side of British artists for years. During the 2016 election campaign, the group already tweeted that Trump did not have permission to use ‘You Can’t Always Get What You Want’. “The Rolling Stones don’t support Trump.” The American copyright organization BMI has already informed Trump several times that he has no permission to use the music of the Stones.

Earlier this week, the relatives of Tom Petty announced that they want Trump to stop using the song ‘I Won’t Back Down’ from the musician, who died in 2017. They don’t want people to think that Petty would have supported Trump. “Both the late Tom Petty and his family are vehemently opposed to racism and any discrimination,” they said in a statement. Neil Young and REM have also objected to the use of their music at Trump meetings.
