Stig Joar Haugen (31), known under the artist name Stig Brenner, gave Støre a political proposal in return after being heavily praised by the Prime Minister during tonight’s live broadcast of P3 Gull on NRK.

– Thank you for giving me a prize. Then I really hope we can get a better and new drug reform for this country, because we need it more than anything else, Haugen said to the Prime Minister at the end of his speech of thanks.

– Thank you very much, Støre, he added – to great applause from the audience.

The Prime Minister did not reply, but smiled, nodded and clapped for the P3 Gold winner.

Scrapped reform proposal

The previous government’s proposal for drug reform stalled this spring, after the Labor Party’s national meeting on Støre’s recommendation voted no to support the reform.

The Solberg government’s proposal was a reform in which the decriminalization of small quantities of drugs was central.

Both the Labor Party and what became their government partner this autumn, the Center Party, voted down the reform in the Storting, together with the Progress Party.

It recently became official that the three new governing parties in Germany – the Social Democrats, the Greens and the Free Democrats – will legalize and regulate the sale of cannabis, as the first country in Europe.

VG has asked Stig Brenner and Jonas Gahr Støre for further comments via their press contacts.
