Newly promoted SC Steinberg wins a “terribly bad game” at EOSC Offenbach in the national basketball league. League rivals SV Dreieichenhain turn game at TV Hofheim after trailing by 18 points

Offenbach – TV Langen’s triumph in the regional basketball championship continues: with the 88:69 victory over Bensheim, the “giraffes” are on the heels of the leader of the Saarlouis classification. The TVL reserve also takes second place on the lower floor. In the women’s division, SV Dreieichenhain suffered a bitter defeat, while the Rhein-Main Baskets made things unnecessarily exciting in the main match of the U18 Bundesliga.

1st regional championship

TV Langen – VfL Bensheim 88:69 (22:27). Even the scare of favorites Bensheim could not slow down Langer, who celebrated a ninth victory in eleven games. “In the first half, our opponents gave us problems because we missed some underlays and couldn’t find the rhythm from distance. After the break, thanks to a significantly better hit rate, we deserved to win even at altitude,” he said TVL manager Jürgen Barth. While the “Giraffes” sank just two of their 14 three-pointers at halftime, they were seven of 15 in the second half. With a run of 16:0 to go 60:40, the hosts made the preliminary decision in the third quarter. Downside: Captain Maxim Schneider sprained his finger and may be out for now.

2nd regional championship

TV Langen II – Eintracht Frankfurt 71:64 (43:29). “We made a good game for long stretches unnecessarily exciting with our five-minute weak phase. In the end, with a lot of cramps and struggles, we managed to take the lead in half time” said TVL player Mirco Palazzo after the seventh hit in the ninth match. The return of top scorer and captain Niklas Butz was good for the team, which led to the break for 43:29 and was now 23 points ahead (54:31).The young team from Frankfurt fought back with a 19:4, while the people of Langen carelessly approached their chances in this but Maximilian Püchert decided with a triple to score 71:63.

TVL II: Butz (19), Trindeitmar (18), Püchert (17), Kessler (13), Chabot (2), Overdick (2), Palazzo, Richter, Buschlinger, Schumacher, Reinecke, Wippersteg

BC Neu-Isenburg – TGS Heidesheim 60:62 (37:41). In the hard-fought duel of the newcomers to the league, which was characterized by hard offensive play and a lot of defensive work, Neu-Isenburg suffered a bitter defeat. “We only conceded 21 points in the second half. It was very nice. But we ourselves only scored 23 points and we simply missed too many free throws from outside. That makes it difficult to win a match,” said BCN coach Vassili Adamoudis . The last action of the match was symptomatic: the hosts had two chances to win, but both attempts missed the mark.

EOSC Offenbach – SC Steinberg 53:54 (27:24). “It was a terrible State League game from both sides. However, the win tastes good because in reality the game was already lost,” said Steinberg coach Nikola Radenkovic, who contributed to the success in the heated final stage. The EOSC was ahead for long stretches, but suffered a technical foul on the score of 53:51. Radenkovic converted the free throw due at 52:53. When the hosts then missed both free throws, Radenkovic catches the rebound, Elias Benner serves, who puts Matej Arlovic on stage, who in turn scores the lay-up with the final siren for 54:53 – at the same time the only two points of the winner of the match.

TV Hofheim – SV Dreieichenhain 71:79 (38:24). The “Haaner” has made a big comeback at the Hofheim rear light. A 14-0 run by the home side puts SVD clearly behind in the second quarter. “We were shocked and couldn’t find any defensive solutions,” acknowledged SVD player Moritz Leipold. Hofheim’s team rallied up to 18 points and led at the end of the third quarter with 60:47. “We then turned the game around with a lot of fighting spirit, teamwork and nerves of steel on the line,” said a delighted Leipold.

WOMEN

regional championship

TV Hofheim – SV Dreieichenhain 58:55 (25:22). “It’s a bitter defeat when you lead so close to the end and still lose. But with our squad reduced, we put in a great performance and we really deserved the win,” said SVD coach Guido Mensinger. The Hofheimers, made up of U18 talents from the Rhein-Main Baskets, got off to a good start, but the guests consistently held their own and took the lead at the end of the third quarter (42:41). Despite considerable fatigue, victory was within reach at 55:52, but Hofheim had the staying power.

TV Babenhausen – Darmstadt-Roßdorf 46:64 (22:32). What Babenhausen’s men had achieved a week earlier was denied to the women on Sunday: a win against Roßdorf. Instead of a fourth consecutive success, coach Markus Kühn’s team had to admit defeat. Without its top scorer Lisa Marie Steiner, TVB had a tough time against the lower tier hosts. Aysegül Öcal (13), Janina Becker and Lara Schierling (10 each) scored in double figures.

Baskets Rhein-Main – ChemCats Chemnitz 69:67 (33:31). In the top game of the previously undefeated teams, the baskets had to shake for the first time of the season. “We had a poor success rate, but we still controlled the game. In the last quarter, we completely lost the thread. Nothing wanted to fall anymore. In addition, we quickly reached the team foul limit,” said the coach of the basketball Rolf Weidemann, who had to do without Mailien Rolf, who was ill. After 69:60 Chemnitz scored the last seven points.Jennifer Reitz stood out with 17 points.
