Steinberg-Dörfl / Vienna – Tanja Gruber is the “voice” of the AUA

“More than six years ago, a friend pointed out a job advertisement at AUA. At the first meeting I immediately thought: ‘I feel good here. I want to take off with AUA. ‘ Thank God I got the chance to do so, ”explains Tanja Gruber, how she“ landed ”at AUA. Since then she has been a member of the AUA team – and has not regretted a minute of it.

“I worked in internal communications for the first four years before I took over the management of the Communications Distribution & Media Relations team two years ago. Simply put, the team is responsible for various AUA communication channels as well as press work, ”she explains.

Tanja Gruber used the challenging time of the Corona crisis to develop her professional skills. “In addition to a large number of interviews and media appointments, I and my team set up a communication campaign during this time, with which we informed employees and customers about the latest developments at Austrian Airlines. A major restructuring was actually planned for our area, which is now on hold due to the corona. I am therefore taking on the role of company spokeswoman and managing the communications area on an interim basis. “

“The way back will not be an easy one”

The corona crisis is one of the greatest challenges for aviation. “Many airlines have stumbled badly, some even had to file for bankruptcy. With the support of the federal government and the owner Lufthansa, as well as the financial courtesy of employees, suppliers and system partners, Austrian Airlines certainly has a good starting position, but the way back to normal will not be an easy one, ”she says.

Right now Gruber also had to “stand up for her wife”, because the AUA was in the public eye due to the discussion about late payment of bonuses.

Gruber is certain: “The AUA employees have already overcome many crises together, so who else should make it if not the AUA team?” Which employees are also interested in Mr. and Mrs. Austrians. ”She also wants to strengthen trust in the Austrian Airlines brand and further expand digital communication through videos and much more.

Tanja Gruber graduated from the University of Applied Sciences in Vienna with a bachelor’s degree in “Communication Management” and then completed an MBA with a focus on marketing at Lynn University in Boca Raton, Florida. “During my free time at the university, I gained work experience – from a tax consultancy in Neckenmarkt to a PR agency in Vienna. I would recommend it to anyone who wants to go a similar path, ”she explains.
