Steam: the next record – 22 million players online at the same time!

COVID-19 or as it is commonly called “coronavirus” is forcing more and more people to stay at home, worldwide. Therefore, there is now a new record on Steam every week. Valve’s platform broke a record this week among “simultaneous players online”. More than 22 million were registered at peak times this Sunday.

Steam reached shortly before 3:00 p.m., loudly SteamDB, a new high of 22,678,529 players. 2 million more than the last record, that was only there last week.

Counter-Strike: Global Offensive is by far the game that most users are currently playing. Valve’s tactical shooter also peaked at 1,096,442 players – and again exceeded the million mark after hitting the milestone for the first time last weekend.

In second place this weekend is DOTA 2, which peaked at 717,882 on the weekend. However, this is far from the all-time high – DOTA 2 had nearly 1.3 million simultaneous players four years ago, and this record has yet to be broken.

Doom Eternal is also on the list of popular games from Steam. The number of players on the starting day has increased compared to the predecessor Doom 2016 more than doubled. The initial high of 104,891 simultaneous players could be surpassed this weekend, the Americans against tonight online.
