Nuneaton and Bedworth Borough Council and Warwickshire Police are advising against swimming in open water following the death of a 27-year-old man. Wojciech Berlan, from Redditch, drowned in EnsorS Pool, Nuneaton, on Sunday, August 17 [[3]]. Authorities warn that lakes, pools, rivers, canals, and quarries carry dangers such as uneven surfaces, deep mud, strong currents, sudden drops, and unexpected obstacles [[1]]. Additionally, water temperatures can be colder than expected, even during heatwaves, and there is a risk of waterborne diseases [[2]]. Cllr Brady Hughes, Portfolio Holder for Leisure and Health, expressed condolences to the family and friends of Mr. Berlan and urged people to stay out of open water [[3]]. Inspector Ryan Walker of the Nuneaton and Bedworth Safer Neighbourhood Team advised against swimming in non-designated areas and urged people to call 999 if they see someone in trouble [[1]].
