State youth welfare office bans corona test station on daycare premises

The mobile test tents stood in front of the Knirpsenhausen and Spielekiste daycare centers in Dresden for exactly one week. Parents could do a rapid corona test there before entering the facility. But in the second week they were no longer set up. One parent had complained about the safety of the children. The feared that the test tent on the day-care center could open the door to strangers and criminals. A flutter tape as a demarcation is not enough.

State youth welfare office: testing only outside the daycare area

The leaders of the daycare centers got on the track, sought a conversation with the city and state authorities in order to find a solution for the test option on site. Now it is official: The State Youth Welfare Office prohibits corona test stations on the premises of day care centers, as there is the possibility that “third parties who are neither users (children and their custodians) nor employees have access to the premises of the day care center and the infrastructure (including also have toilets) of the day care center “. However, testing outside the daycare area with a Dixiklo next to it would be unrestricted, according to the Ministry of Social Affairs.

More trouble for the parents

“It’s a shame that it is ironed out like that,” says Birgit Klemm, head of the two day care centers of the Free Music Association Paukenschlag, regretting the decision. “We tried everything, but that’s the way it is.” Simply setting up the test tent outside of the daycare center is not an option. This requires clarifications with the respective property owner.

Eva-Maria Stegemann, member of the parents’ council of the integrative Kita Knirpsenhausen, regrets the end of corona tests directly at the kindergarten. She particularly found the test offer on Monday morning from 6:45 a.m. unbeatable. “Since there is no test center open so early on Monday mornings, I now have to take a test on Saturdays, which means I need three tests a week,” she calculates. “Or I have to pay for a quick test out of my own pocket and thus accept greater uncertainty.”
