No school visit without medical masks! This rule applies from Monday to both teachers and students during and outside of class, as the city of Mannheim reports with reference to the current ordinance of the state of Baden-Württemberg. Previously, children between the ages of six and 14 were exempt and could use everyday masks. These are still allowed for a transition phase, but then these age groups should also be equipped with FFP2, KN95, N95 or medical masks.
Where the necessary spacing of 1.5 meters cannot be maintained in the classes, alternating lessons are to be organized with immediate effect in levels 5 and 6 as well as in schools with special needs. The city of Mannheim had already hoped that the state would enable the changeover model by Easter and suspend the compulsory attendance – this now applies at least to the orientation level at secondary schools. Tutoring can take place in groups of up to five students, of course also with masks.
“Further openings unrealistic”
“The current situation is so dynamic that we have to align our measures to this infection process”, explains the Baden-Württemberg Prime Minister Winfried Kretschmann, why the state government decided on Friday to adapt the regulation with these changes. “Unfortunately, the trend is pointing in the wrong direction. On this basis, further openings are currently unrealistic and not useful. “
All day care centers in Mannheim have already been closed from Wednesday because there were more corona cases at several institutions.
Very important: Adults, adolescents and children from the age of six must always wear a medical mouth and nose mask or an FFP2 mask on buses and trams, also when shopping and in closed rooms where there is public traffic. This also applies in the workplace, where no distance can be maintained, in hospitals and in body-friendly services such as physiotherapy.
No appointment shopping in Mannheim
Shops for daily needs – including hairdressers, bookstores, opticians, flower shops – will remain open in Baden-Württemberg. But on Tuesday the city of Mannheim pulled the emergency brake after the seven-day incidence value had exceeded 100 new infections per 100,000 inhabitants several times in a row. In the Mannheim retail trade, once an appointment has been made and hygiene measures are taken, goods can still be picked up in the store (“Click & Collect”), but you can no longer seek advice on-site via appointment shopping (“Click & Meet”). Just like the Mannheim museums are closed again and the Luisenpark cannot be visited. Privately, families on the other side of the Rhine are allowed to meet someone from another household – children under the age of 14 are not included.
A few more changes will apply from Monday in the state of Baden-Württemberg: Music, art and youth art schools are generally allowed to offer lessons again. From a seven-day incidence of over 100, however, only via online lessons. There will also be some entertainment: drive-in cinemas with concerts and theaters are now allowed to reopen, at least that was the announcement on Saturday.
In Mannheim, 1,070 current cases of infection had been reported by Saturday afternoon, 92 of them new.
