State Statistics Service: 67% of Ukrainians called themselves poor

36.6% denied themselves basic necessities, except food

Only one percent of the citizens surveyed identified themselves as the middle class. But it was not possible to identify rich Ukrainians.

In Ukraine, two-thirds of the citizens surveyed (67.1%) identified themselves as poor. Most Ukrainians have named the amount of more than 22 thousand hryvnia per month, which would allow them to consider themselves representatives of the middle class. About it informs State Statistics Service (Gosstat).

According to the ministry, 31.9% of citizens identified themselves not as poor, but not yet among the representatives of the middle class.

Only 1% identified themselves as middle class. The State Statistics Service could not identify rich Ukrainians.

As for the monthly income, according to 47% of Ukrainians, the amount of more than 10 thousand hryvnia will not allow them to consider themselves poor.

Answering the question about the income, which allows one to consider oneself a representative of the middle class, 70.7% of the respondents named the amount of more than 22 thousand hryvnia per month.

Also, according to the State Statistics Service, in 2020, only 11.8% of Ukrainians received enough income to make savings. And 3.2% of citizens were unable to provide even sufficient food.

48.4% of respondents called their incomes acceptable, but did not make any savings.

In addition to food, 36.6% of the respondents denied themselves the essentials.

A quarter of Ukrainians live below the poverty line

We add that according to the UN, 800 million people go hungry in the world… The situation has worsened against the backdrop of the pandemic – in 2020, 161 million more people faced hunger than a year earlier.
