Starting next Monday!: Mainkai closed to cars | Regional

Frankfurt – Mainkai closure, 2nd attempt! From July 11th to September 5th, the almost 1 km long northern section of the Main bank between Untermainbrücke and Alter Brücke will be closed to traffic on a trial basis.

Diversion routes should be better signposted this time. In 2019/2020, a 13-month trial closure caused a lot of criticism for the then head of the traffic department, Klaus Oesterling (SPD). In Sachsenhausen residents complained about traffic jams. Proponents of the closure criticized insufficient use of barren road space.

This time various events are taking place at the Mainkai – Main and Museumsuferfest as well as actions of the Eurobike fair.
