Driver car crossing the toll road exceeding the speed limit will be ticketed starting April 1, 2022. This measure is implemented in line with the installation speed cameras at a number of points on the toll road.

Director of Law Enforcement of the Korlantas Polri Brigadier General Aan Suhanan said that the camera will later be used to spy on drivers who often speed up their vehicles.

Meanwhile, he said, the maximum speed limit on toll roads is 120 kilometers per hour.

“So if the car is already running at more than 120 kilometers per hour, it willcapture and after being verified, there will be a love letter for violators to pay a fine,” said Aan as quoted from the official website of the National Police Korlantas, Sunday (27/3).

Regulations related to speed limits on toll roads are contained in government regulation no. 79 of 2013 concerning the Road Traffic and Transportation (LLAJ) network article 23 paragraph 4.

The regulation was later strengthened by the issuance of a Regulation of the Minister of Transportation concerning Procedures for Determining Vehicle Limits. One of them, it is stated that the speed limit on toll roads is 60 to 100 kilometers per hour.

Drivers can determine the speed of their vehicle according to the traffic signs installed. In the regulation, it is written that vehicles on inner-city toll roads can travel at a minimum speed of 60 km/hour, and a maximum of 80 km/hour.

Meanwhile, for driving on highways outside the city, the minimum limit is 60 km/hour and a maximum of 100 km/hour. If the driver exceeds the speed limit, the police can issue a fine.

Aan explained, if a driver is caught by a speed camera violating the speed rules, there will be a verification process. The police, he said, would send evidence of traffic violations on the toll road to the address of the vehicle owner.

Currently, said Aan, there are already five cameras used to capture images on the toll road. Cameras are spread across East Java to Jakarta.
