Born in the Dan Phuong district in the suburbs of Hanoi, Nguyên Thi Hao was first a construction project manager for a large group in the city center of the capital. This ambitious position did not suit her, however, and after 5 years of practice, she decided to leave this dream profession in order to return to the countryside to pursue her family’s profession: carpentry.

“It was a difficult decision, because I have children to raise. But I thought more about the health and the work of my father. That is why, I wanted near him to help him in case of need “, she expresses.

Reconnect with childhood

When she was little, Nguyên Thi Hao loved spending time with her toys made of wood by the skillful hands of her father – a renowned carpenter in Dan Phuong. Life was certainly difficult, but the young girl could always find comfort in her toys and the love of her parents.

When she was 12 years old, a dramatic event disturbed everything: her father suffered a stroke. If he survived this fatal accident, he has been practicing carpentry less and less since, although his work has remained famous.

“The majority of the beds and wardrobes in this village are made by my father,” recalls Nguyên Thi Hao.

And the health crisis is the key moment for it to invest more in it: to set up its own cabinet-making start-up. “It is not a decision taken on a whim: I dream of it since my years at the university. Like all the other students, I wanted to create and sell objects at low prices and eco-responsible”, specifies the young person. carpenter.

A project that remains to be set up

Nguyên Thi Hao converted a corner of the family garden into a small manufacturing workshop. His father also gave him a hand. “He is very happy and he also helped me to do the floor”, she smiles. The young entrepreneur first of all wants to create toys for children. For this, she now assembles small pieces of wood with meticulousness and caution. Her artisanal production takes a long time and she is aware that she cannot currently provide mass production for her start-up.

“My father only knows how to use fairly rudimentary, traditional tools. He never learned anything about industrial production, with machines,” she points out. “I have to do some research on the Internet and ask in the online groups. advice to professionals. Then I will buy the first machines, and I will practice every day “.

Nguyên Thi Hao takes advantage of the wood waste around her home to recycle them into toys for children. However, the biggest challenge for her is physical ability: she often cannot move large bars or planks of wood.

Toys also demand endless creativity from him. This is why she often looks for great sources of inspiration. Fortunately, the knowledge she has accumulated in construction gives her a better understanding of materials, as well as the basics of interior design.

Through online networks and e-commerce markets, wooden toys can earn him up to 600,000 VND per piece. In the near future, Nguyên Thi Hao would like to expand the size of her productions in order to attract more young producers to her. In any case, today, it has a very promising start. – CVN / VNA
