I extended the rear overhang with FMC, but the total length is still less than 3.8m.
It’s 150mm shorter than the standard size Yaris in a small 2BOX car. On the other hand, the total height is 1745 mm. This is only 80mm lower than the 1BOX type Noah.
By the way, the indoor height of the catalog is 1365mm, which is only 35mm less than Noah. It is a packaging aiming at the maximum cabin with a small plane size.
The cabin utility that makes use of this space is Solio’s biggest selling point.
It is the theory to gain leg space by setting a high seat height that makes use of the comfortable indoor height, but the floor height is lower than the 1BOX type, and the seat height is also designed in consideration of foot comfort when getting on and off.
Therefore, the head clearance is unnaturally large compared to a general passenger car.
The same applies to super-height mini vehicles, but the high ceiling and the open view above enhance the feeling of openness larger than the size and the sense of space sharing between the front and rear seats. Not only is it spacious, it also provides a relaxing comfort.
One of the highlights of the new practical aspect is the expansion of the luggage compartment length.

The luggage compartment length has been extended by 100 mm compared to the conventional car, and a depth of 550 mm is secured even when the rear seat slide is set in the final position.
The maximum luggage compartment for rear seats is 715 mm, and when the rear seats are stowed, it is 1390 mm.
Even in the front position set of the rear seats, there is enough knee space for four men. In addition, the rear seat slide / reclining and storage are independent left and right.

Naturally aspirated 1.2L + MHV What is it like?
In the HV specification, a parallel hybrid vehicle combined with AMT was also set in the previous generation, but in the new model, only a mild hybrid using NA 1.2L 4-cylinder / CVT and ISG (starter generator) is set.
Toshiba SCiB with a single cell voltage of 2.4V is used for the dedicated hybrid lithium-ion battery, and by using 5 cells of 12V, power can be supplied to the auxiliary equipment battery without a converter.
Charging the hybrid battery is basically regeneration at the time of engine braking. The motor output (ISG) is only 2.3kW, and it has a simple configuration that minimizes cost increase, but the usage of electric power is exquisite.
Electric assist is applied at the beginning of a gentle step from cruising to suppress downshifts. Assists initial acceleration even when accelerating with a downshift.
Power assist is a very short time, and it is not enough to feel the electric driving force, but the good acceleration response in the low load region reduces the amount of accelerator depression.
If you accelerate with a low number of revolutions and a small amount of depression, the feeling of remaining power is more than the specifications.
In high-speed cruising where the frequency of regeneration is low and motor assist cannot be expected, there is a margin corresponding to the displacement, but there is also early shift control that suppresses the amount of downshift, so there is little feeling of powerlessness for NA 1.2L.
It’s not for long-distance use, but it has enough power for a short trip.
