Starbucks is facing a lawsuit over lack of fruit in its popular refreshing fruit drinks, a federal judge in New York announced.
According to the August 2022 lawsuit, customers Joan Kominis of New York and Jason McAllister of California alleged that the coffee chain engaged in “false and deceptive practices in the marketing and sale of several of its Starbucks refreshing products, which are sold in the chain’s physical stores as fruit-based drinks.
The demand says that those of the people who promote it want to have Mango Dragonfruit, Mango Dragonfruit Lemonade, Pineapple Passionfruit, Pineapple Passionfruit Lemonade, Strawberry Açai and Strawberry Açai Lemonade not containing mango, passion fruit or Açai.
The filing also says customers “paid a premium price based on their confidence” in Starbucks drink names. If they had known the truth about what the drinks really contained, they “wouldn’t have bought it” or “I would have paid a lot less.”
Starbucks told Reuters the allegations are “inaccurate and baseless.”
