He called on the UN to create a special tribunal to investigate the actions of Russian occupiers in Ukraine.
President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky said that members of the Russian delegation to the UN Security Council stood up during the commemoration of the Ukrainians killed by the Russian invaders in order to “frankly not look like murderers.”
He said this in his video message.
“Today, the UN Security Council stood up to honor the memory of all Ukrainians killed by the Russian army on our soil. Members of the Russian delegation looked around at everyone present in the Security Council hall and also decided to stand up – just so as not to look like murderers frankly. But everyone knows that this is precisely Russian terror , it is the Russian state that is killing innocent people in this war unleashed against the Ukrainian people,” the president stressed.
He added that he called on the UN to use the existing mechanisms of the United Nations Charter to stop Russian manipulation of the Organization’s structures and to create a special tribunal to investigate the actions of Russian occupiers on Ukrainian soil.
