What have been the leading couples of the year, what have been the most talked about gossip of the last twelve months and, why not, what have been the songs and artists most listened to this year from which we rush its last hours, the songs that they have put a soundtrack to our day to day.

And music in Spanish makes history in 2021, as Bad Bunny has become, for the second year in a row, the most listened to artist in the world as Spotify discovers us. A new world record for the artist from Puerto Rico, and one more proof that music in our language continues to conquer the ears of listeners across the globe every year. In fact, the artist himself has already reacted to this new record achieved, expressing his gratitude and his greatest wish: to continue dedicating his life to music.

Worldwide, there is no doubt that Bad Bunny is the favorite of the users of the application, since it has already accumulated more than 9,100 million listeners this year. In second position is singer-songwriter Taylor Swift; third, for the first time in the ranking, the South Korean group BTS; in fourth place, rapper Drake, and in fifth place, Justin Bieber.

If we talk about the ‘top 5’ of the most listened to female artists in the world, in addition to Taylor Swift, we find Ariana Grande, Olivia Rodrigo, Dua Lipa and Doja Cat in the ranking.

In the ranking of the most listened to songs of 2021 globally, the most reproduced is “Drivers license”, by Olivia Rodrigo, which accumulates more than 1,100 million listens in the application. In second and third position, respectively, are “MONTERO (Call Me By Your Name)”, by Lil Nas X, and “STAY”, by The Kid LAROI with Justin Bieber. The fourth most played song is another by Olivia Rodrigo, “good 4 u”, and the ‘top 5’ is closed by “Levitating”, Dua Lipa with DaBaby.

Music in Spanish consolidates its leadership for another year. For more than a decade in Spain, more music has been heard in Spanish than in English. And the data for 2021 only corroborate this growing trend, since the ranking of the most listened to artists in 2021 in our country is made up of Spanish-speaking artists.

And today it becomes the most played Spanish album in Spain in 2021.

In the ‘top 5’ of songs most listened to in our country, is “Todo De Ti”, by Rauw Alejandro, as the favorite of the year. In second place is “Couple Of The Year”, by Sebastian Yatra with Myke Towers; third, “Yonaguni”, by Bad Bunny; in fourth position, “Fiel”, by Los Legendarios with Wisin and Jhay Cortez, and in fifth place, “La Historia”, by El Taiger with DJ Conds.
