Spotify Launches Greenroom to Rival Clubhouse and Twitter Spaces

Suara.com – Spotify officially introduced a live-audio feature called Greenroom for Android and iOS platforms. As Clubhouse, this feature allows users to talk directly (live audio room) to discuss various things.

Quoting The Verge, Thursday (17/6/2021), this application was made from the Locker Room owned by the developer Betty Labs. This app has been acquired by Spotify since last March.

At that time, Locker Room only focused on sports content. With the acquisition of Spotify, existing users will now get more topics of conversation because it is not limited to sports content anymore.

Another change that Spotify brings is the visual display. Now the app displays a black green background similar to Spotify. Don’t forget there is also a new logo and font introduced in Greenroom.

In terms of functionality, the application also displays recorded data that has been created by the creator in the room. This is the same as the functionality of the Spotify podcast.

New users can immediately use Greenroom by logging in directly from their Spotify account. The initial screen will direct you to select interests from various topics such as music genres or sports teams.

In addition, Spotify will also compensate content creators if their room is popular and in demand by many people. But it’s still unclear how much of the bonus Spotify will spend.

With this, Spotify joins several applications that have audio-live features such as Clubhouse, Twitter Spaces, LinkedIn, Reddit, and Discord which previously brought similar features.
