Spotify has changed one of its functions because Adele has requested it

Following Adele’s comment, Spotify has removed the “Shuffle” button from artists’ albums.

The power that artists have over music streaming platforms most popular today, Spotify, YouTube Music, Tidal, Amazon Music and Apple Music, is very large, something that has been shown after knowing that Spotify has changed one of its functions because the singer Adele has asked it to do so.

Spotify removes shuffle button on albums after Adele’s request

According to a BBC report Spotify has removed the “Shuffle” button from playing artists’ albums after a comment from singer Adele in which she requested that this function be changed so that users could listen to her new album 30 in the correct order.

After Pop Crave confirmed on Twitter that Spotify had removed this button, Adele herself posted a tweet in which she stated the following:

“This was the only request I had in our ever-changing industry! We don’t create albums with such care and thought on our song list for no reason. Our art tells a story and our stories should be heard as we intend. Thank you Spotify for listen”.

As you can see in the aforementioned tweet, which we leave you on these lines, Spotify responded to Adele’s tweet with the phrase “Anything for you”, making it clear that this change had been made at the request of the singer.

In fact, Spotify’s own head of music communications, Chris Macowski, confirmed to The Verge in an interview that this role had been changed upon Adele’s request:

“As Adele mentioned, we are pleased to share that we have started rolling out a new Premium feature that has long been requested by both users and artists to make the play button the default on all albums.”

This way, when you press the play button within an album the songs will be played in the order set, as long as you have a Premium account, although you can activate the random mode from the playback controls for one of the tracks on that album.

Obviously it is not by chance that this change occurs after the release of Adele’s new album, which is one of the most listened to on Spotify. In fact, one of the songs on said album, Easy on Me, achievement beat the record of reproductions in one day on Spotify that until now the k-pop group BTS held.
