João Palhinha will miss the derby against Benfica next Friday, according to more football.
Although the Portuguese international midfielder’s stoppage time is not known for sure, the muscle injury he contracted on Sunday, in the match against Tondela, is not possible to recover in time for the game with the eagles.
Palhinha realized almost immediately that the injury would be serious and left the field in tears in the 68th minute, complaining about the posterior aspect of his right thigh.
Now he sees the suspicions confirmed and will even be a relevant casualty for Ruben Amorim’s team in the eternal derby.
It should be remembered that at the end of the match, in a press conference, the Sporting coach pointed out the possible alternatives to shirt 6 – see video associated with this article -, in case it were to miss the game against Benfica, as is now confirmed.
