Hayao Miyazaki’s immortal masterpiece “Spirited Away” announced the launch of a stage play, which will be premiered at the Imperial Theater in Tokyo, Japan from February to March 2022.It is reported that the “Spirited Away” stage play will be adapted and directed by John Kaelder, the director of the musical “Les Miserables”, starring Hashimoto Kanna and Kameshiroishi Moein taking turns.

“Spirited Away (千と千寻の神隠し)” is a Japanese animation film produced by Studio Ghibli and directed and screenplayed by Hayao Miyazaki. It was released on July 20, 2001. The content tells the story of a little girl who accidentally entered the world of gods and then experienced growth.

This work has brought many career achievements to Hayao Miyazaki. At the box office, it set a record of 23.5 million views and 30.8 billion yen in revenue in Japan, surpassing the 27.2 billion US film “Titanic” released in Japan in 1997. The Japanese yen box office score became the highest box office movie in Japanese history. Due to the re-release of the movie in 2020, the box office has been revised to 31.68 billion yen.
