There are less than 50 days to go before the World Cup.
But before that, a hectic match schedule is expected for many of the players who can potentially play an important role during the World Cup.
A busy schedule of matches and the Winter World Cup can create very interesting duels between fellow countrymen.
Because what does Nicolás Otamendi do, for example, when Lionel Messi dribbles past him on Wednesday? What do French Ligue 1 players do when Kylian Mbappé turns on the turbo?
Knock it down? Inserting a two-legged tackle? Or is the fear of hurting the most important player of the national team too great?
It is impossible to know what the players think in the heat of the game. They probably don’t think about what the consequences might be, but the scenario is there.
– There will obviously be cases on this if something like this happens. Absurd things will happen, like the teammates of the national team hurting each other. This is a completely unique situation that players entered as early as last weekend. There are matches all the way now and at the end of the series the World Cup awaits, says TV 2 football expert Simen Stamsø-Møller, and continues:

– It is impossible to say how many situations of this kind can arise. But if you, as a Frenchman, destroy the World Cup for Mbappé or as an Argentine, destroy the World Cup for Messi … Then you become a traitor to your country!

Already during the break of the national team he crashed. English newspapers printed images of Thomas Müller, who apologized to the great talent Jamal Musiala after an accident during training in Germany.

Stamsø-Møller himself knew the professional dream for a short time when Tromsø took it in 2010. But even though he has never been close to the Norwegian national team, he is able to imagine what he himself had in mind.
– The toilet is the largest for the vast majority of players. Right now I think that if I had been in such a situation, I would have given up on facing someone who could have won the world title, says Stamsø-Møller.
Several champions are already in danger of losing the championship. Paul Pogba and Marco Reus are both in doubt after getting injured this season.
– It is a scenario that could have been born before, the difference now is that it doesn’t take long before a World Cup, as it usually does in the summer. You are now halfway through the season and all matches count. There are usually a lot of teams that have nothing to play for as they approach the end of the season, says the TV 2 expert.
