SPD parliamentary group senses “Influencer Marketing”: Laschet’s son threaded a mask deal with a fashion manufacturer – politics

A surprising contact between the fashion manufacturer van Laack and the Düsseldorf State Chancellery calls the opposition onto the scene: According to van Laack owner Christian von Daniels, the prime minister’s son, fashion blogger Johannes “Joe” Laschet, had the door to a big deal open with smocks and masks.

The SPD parliamentary group senses “Influencer Marketing in the State Chancellery” and wants to know exactly what was going on via a small inquiry in the state parliament. The state government sees the matter as positive: At the beginning of the pandemic, people were happy about every reference to corresponding companies.

van Laack owner Christian von Daniels has been working with us for years Fashion-Blogger „Joe“ Laschet together. The “Rheinische Post” said of Daniels in an interview: “I told Joe that if the country needed help getting masks, he could give his father my number.”

Prime Minister Armin Laschet actually called on a Sunday evening and said that the van Laack boss was running in open doors. “Two days later, his employees were sitting with us in the conference room and had a look at our masks and smocks,” said von Daniels to the “Rheinische Post”.

A spokesman for the state government said on dpa request: “At the height of the infection in the first wave in March there was almost no protective clothing and masks on the world market.” These were urgently needed to equip medical staff. “During this time, the state government sought contact with companies from all over Germany in order to remedy this as quickly as possible.”

There were many references to such companies – each one was followed up: “In some cases personally by the Prime Minister and other members of the state government.”

The aim was to “convert North Rhine-Westphalian companies to the manufacture of high-quality protective materials. This is also the case with the “van Laack” textile company. ”The company was able to produce masks and smocks as well as shirts at short notice.

According to earlier information from the Ministry of Health, the fashion manufacturer from Mönchengladbach quickly delivered several million surgical gowns and masks to the country. The responsible State Office for Central Police Service (LZPD) recently ordered a further 1.25 million everyday masks for the police from van Laack.

The SPD parliamentary group now asks in the title of their small question: “What influence did Joe Laschet’s business relationships with the fashion manufacturer van Laack have on the award of contracts by the state government?” The opposition wants the state government to list all “van Laack” contracts. In addition, the SPD wants to know which other bidders were in the running and whether there were “commissions for brokerage activities”.

As the State Chancellery announced to the dpa, all offers were “checked for suitability” by the central test center of the Ministry of Health. The selection was made via this central review center. ”According to the state parliament’s rules of procedure, the state government has four weeks to answer the detailed questions posed by the SPD.

Johannes Laschet is now an involuntary topic in the state parliament. So far, as the only point of contact to politics, he was known, among other things, as a fashion advisor for his father.

Said in a WDR broadcast Armin Laschet last week, his son also gave him tips on cutting suits, pants and shirts. Joe Laschet has around 90,000 subscribers on the Instagram social network. He presents and advertises classic men’s fashion there. Last week, for example, a van Laack tuxedo shirt. (dpa)
