San Jose State University football standout, Jayden Bainer, is making history with his recent defensive performances. Bainer⁣ recorded two interceptions in a single game ‌against New ⁢Mexico,‍ a feat not accomplished⁤ by a Spartan ‍sence Brandon Ezell on October ⁤4, 2019,‍ also against New‌ Mexico. He followed that up with another multi-interception game, becoming the first spartan as Ezell ⁣in 2019 to record interceptions in ‍consecutive games – two against New Mexico and ‌one against Nevada.

These accomplishments highlight ‌a significant trend for the Spartans under head coach Brent Niumatalolo. The team has recorded a takeaway ‌in 18 of their last 19 games.Additionally, the Spartans’ passing attack⁤ is thriving, currently leading the Mountain West (MW) with an average of 309.0 passing yards per game, ranking 12th nationally after six games.Quarterback Chevan Eget leads the MW and is fifth ⁣in the country, ‍averaging 301.5 passing yards per game, and seventh nationally with 23.8 completions ⁤per game.

The Spartans will continue their season on the road, facing Utah ⁢State on Friday, with coverage on CBS Sports ⁤Network. San Jose State will then return home ⁤to host Hawai’i on ⁤November 1 at 7:30 p.m., also televised‌ on CBS Sports Network. ‌Tickets are available at⁢ https://sjsuspartans.evenue.net/events/football-home-games.
